Meditations in Simplicity 1 - Scarves

My sister gave this scarf to me when she came back from a trip to Bolivia with her husband. It has brilliantly interwoven colors and is very light and breathy, so where whenever the temperature merits at the very least long sleeves, my neck dons this.. I admittedly feel like it's a Linus-esque security scarf, but wearing it is like having someone constantly hugging you (without the practical inconvenience that might impose). I think the weavers must have used an oxytocin laced material when weaving this scarf, but then I realize that every time I wear it, I'm wearing the original thought that my sister had in Bolivia when she thought I might enjoy this. Who doesn't love to be thought of? When I wear this, I feel thought of, and consequently loved. It reminds me to think of people, and to let them know that they're thought of. Perhaps that what gifts of love do. They have a way of extending beyond the giver, beyond the receiver, into the interconnected world at large, warming cold necks all over the world.

  2. If you wore it all day I'm quite certain it would :)

  5. Jules gave me a scarf several months ago. While I own many scarves, the one I find myself reaching for most often is the one Jules gave to me. I love it for the same reasons you love your scarf. Here's to warm necks and warm hearts!

Thank you for including me in this journey. I look forward to it. Know you are in my nightly prayers. I will always be one of your "Arizona moms".
